Gamja Chae Jeon

Woomi Hwegwan is a Korean restaurant. Specializes in beef dishes.

In May, we will host a book talk/launch at YP Books in Jongro for 2 books by author Cho Yeeun: Shift and Teddy Bears Never Die.

Gamja Chae Jeon is a variation of gamja jeon (see generally 12.094 Chuno (Gamja Jeon)). Instead of grinding into pulp, the potato is shredded into thin strips (chae). The resulting pancake offers more texture, more crisp – similar to an American hashbrown.
Frankly, I don’t see why the chae version isn’t the standard. Presumably easier to make, and better outome.

Following an “ocular visit” (as we used to call it at WHO) + planning meeting with YP Books in the morning, we walked around the neighborhood scouting potential venues for the launch afterparty. Woomi Hwegwan ticked all the right boxes, so we had lunch to sample the menu. It was good. We made a reservation for May 23. Stay tuned.
