In preparation for our booth at the Seoul Outdoor Library, which opens next Friday – stay tuned for more on this – I needed to buy a plate, a very specific plate of specific dimensions from IKEA (actually a desktop), to be attached as a base for our photo zone selfie mirror. So I went to the IKEA in Gangdong, the closest store to home, only to discover that they’re out of stock. The computer indicated that the Goyang branch was the only store in Korea with that particular item. So I got back in my car and drove. Upon arrival, I realized that I’d driven to the Gwangmyoung branch. So I got back in my car and drove. A trip that should’ve only taken about 2 hours (86 km roundtrip) – had I simply done a quick search before leaving – ended up taking 5.5 hours (146 km roundtrip).
