Steak & Cheese Sandwich

2.5

at The Naked Grill

-Oksu, Seongdong, Seoul, Republic of Korea-

w DJ and MtG

The steak & cheese sandwich was entirely mediocre.  While the restaurant’s main strength lies in getting the basics right, such as the bread, the toppings, and the condiments, they weren’t enough to compensate for the weaknesses of the meat and the cheese, which were both bland and oddly seasoned at the same time.

As mentioned yesterday, I’ve been requested to make steak & cheese sandwiches for lunch on the camping trip tomorrow (see 2.057 Turkey Sandwich).  The biggest challenge is obtaining the requisite soft hoagie rolls, which are not readily available in Korea.  Subway declined to sell just the bread, but Naked Grill agreed.  At 2,000 won apiece, I bought 10.  When I explained what I was intending to make with the rolls, the guy threw in a baggie of their “secret” seasoning mix.  In light of tonight’s experience, I’ll stick with my own recipe, thank you very much.
