Garlicpeno Spaghetti

Mad for Garlic is an Italian restaurant.  As the name would suggest, garlic is the running theme throughout the menu.

Dracula Killer (2.5): baguette slices with garlic cloves and parmesan cheese, not that bad but a total rip-off at 12,500 won plus 10% VAT – maybe should’ve gone with this as the featured dish, just for the name.

Garlicpeno Spaghetti was good.  Garlic and jalapeño peppers, sautéed in olive oil and white wine and tossed with spaghetti.  Similar in concept to a dish in a previous post (see 2.014 Spaghetti al Jalapeño). The main difference is that the garlic here was sliced and fried, which I found to be more satisfying as the texture of the crisp chips contrasted with the soft jalapeńos, and the intensified garlic flavor held its own against the sharpness of the pickled peppers. I’m wondering if the use of jalapeño as a pasta ingredient is unique to Korea.

Happy birthday, Dad!
