When Nanny 2 left us last year for the 3rd time, I knew that it wouldn’t be a final goodbye.  In fact, she continued to help out in a part-time capacity for awhile.  About a month and a half ago, we hired a new full-time nanny, Nanny 6, well in advance of the baby’s arrival to give her time to adjust and to give us time to find a replacement if she didn’t work out.  Then, the night before the baby was to come home, after 5 weeks of pretty much just sitting around the house and doing an occasional chore, she got the flu.  We sent her home.  By the weekend, she hadn’t improved.  (In the meantime, W is going out of her fucking mind, demanding to know what wrong had she committed in a previous life to deserve her present misery of having to raise a newborn without the assistance of a nanny?!?!?!)  So, we called in Nanny 2.  Nanny 2 had first joined us when Nanny 1 had been injured in a car accident, a second time when Nanny 3 had up and quit on short notice, and a third time when Nanny 4 turned out to be deaf and Nanny 5 turned out to be too good for the job.  We always go back to Nanny 2.  She’ll be with us until the weekend, assuming Nanny 6 recovers by then.
