Original Gui Chicken
from Torre Ore
-Oksu, Seongdong, Seoul, Republic of Korea-
with W and DJ
Not as good as I remembered. In fact, I’m absolutely certain that it wasn’t the same recipe. This time, the seasonings were somewhat bland, less soy flavor.
Anyway, aside from the chicken itself, the great thing about chicken delivery joints in Korea is that they deliver draft beer. Makes sense because all these places are essentially beer holes. For Koreans, the whole point of eating fried/roast chicken is to wash it down with beer. 5,000 won for 1,000 ml. From the tap. Up until a few years ago, they used empty Coke bottles, which was gross, but people didn’t seem to mind because they were getting beer. Now, they’ve gotten sophisticated by developing their own bottles that come with a sealed cap.
