In Seoul. For my first mission to Korea, I was dispatched to support back-to-back meetings on tobacco control, Thursday and Friday, specifically in relation to the recent lawsuit filed by Korea’s National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) against the tobacco industry to recover costs of health care arising from the treatment of tobacco-related diseases. Spent the weekend with W and the kids, flying back to Manila tonight.

Global Chow is an international buffet restaurant. .Relatively small for a buffet, limited selection, mostly Chinese-ish and Korean dishes, a generic salad/fruit bar, etc.
With the family accompanying me to the airport, we had dinner together at Global Chow. DJ wanted to do buffet. Though I’m generally opposed to buffets, I acquiesced this time to help develop his ability to make food choices – this is why I always insist that he choose something for himself, whatever he wants, when we’re ordering à la carte.
The food was, as anticipated, kinda crappy overall.
However, I was quite impressed by the concept of the DIY bibimbab bar. What a great way for departing tourists to get one last taste of the iconic dish. And so much fun to make your own, as much or as little as you want. I’m gonna try setting up something like it for a future dinner party.
