Asparagus Cream Soup

Personal Deviation + Mission to Nadi + Personal Deviation : Day 10 (see previously 6.109 The Fall).

After a week in Fiji attending a nutrition conference, I spent the weekend at home in Korea, flying back to the Philippines tonight.

Chinese-Style Fried Codfish with Hot Bean Sauce Served with Noodle and Mixed Vegetables (1.0) — this was probably also offered back in coach, exactly as is.

As always, I am grateful for and respectful of the opportunity to travel internationally, whether for fun or for work, especially via business class (see BEST IN FLIGHT), including airport lounge access (see in BEST IN LOUNGE).

But compared to other carriers — for example Qatar Airways (see 5.286 Chili Mango Prawns with Asparagus), Philippine Airlines (see 5.335 Chicken Tausi), Asiana Airlines (see 6.048 Ssam Bap) — the food on Korean Air’s Prestige Class is consistently crappy (see 5.175 Prestigious Repast) — though to be fair, Fiji Airways was pretty bad too (see 5.181 Sliced Roast Lamb…).

And it’s not just on the short route between ICN to MNL, as shown above, but even on the long haul flight between NAD to ICN, when I flew in a couple days ago, as shown below.

Both ways, the soup was the best thing (see also 6.100 Coconut Carrot Cream Soup).  I should’ve asked for extra helpings of soup and bread.

First, lunch:

Seared Tuna Loin with Balsamic Dressing (2.0) — 4 of the 6 meals on the round trip (the others being a late-night snack and breakfast) featured peeled oranges.

Bibimbap (3.0) — better than before (see most recently 6.021 Bibimbap), which makes me wonder why they can’t standardize the quality control.

Then, dinner:

… Served with Sundried Tomato Dressing (3.0) — the only bright spot on the entire flight.

Roasted Chicken Thigh with Bulgogi Sauce Served with Steamed Rice and Spinach (1.5) — this was probably also offered in coach, exactly as is.
