Espárragos Blancos

at Casino Español de Manila

-Ermita, Manila-

with K staff and guests from MFDS

Casino Español de Manila is a Spanish social club, including a restaurant and bar.
Started in 1834, formally established in 1893, current building erected in 1951.

Located just a few blocks from work, I’d eaten lunch at the Casino on three prior occasions.  The food didn’t impressed me, so I’ve never gone out of my way — it’s in the opposite direction of home — to eat there of my own accord.

Like, we actually do.

The asparagus, taken straight out of a can — nothing wrong with canned asparagus per se, of course — were limp and mushy, not much flavor.

While generally okayish, the food lacks any attempt at sophistication, what I imagine it must be like at a corner quick-fix restaurant in Spain.
