The Home Stretch : Day 5 (see previously 7.194 The MIL’s Typical…).

At long last, the time has come.  Arrived in Seoul on Saturday morning.  Here for a week to pack up and ship our stuff to the Philippines, where we’ll be reunited to live as a family after 2.5 years.  Flying back together to Manila next Saturday.

Business going good, they’ve expanded to include this additional dining space in the basement.

Tonight was about hanging out with my cousins, MS and JS.  They’re the closest that I have to brothers (they’re actually brothers).  While we still see each other occasionally at family gatherings, but even then not so often after I moved to Manila (see most recently 6.271 Tara’s Wedding Spread), I miss that we don’t go out like we used to, just the three of us, the last time over 4 years ago (see most recently 3.109 Grilled Lamb Galbi) — could it really have been that long ago?!?!

A perfect specimen of my favorite cut, the sirloin (see generally 7.110 Grilled Sirloin Strip), ideal balance of muscle to marbling, immaculate flavor.

The evening was also about hanging out in my old neighborhood, Oksu (see generally 5.002 One (Batch of Odeng) for the Road).  After dinner, we got some street food to go (see generally 3.164 The Trinity) and went to Sin Maegju Changgo for several post-prandial drinks.

On New Year’s Eve many many years past, we finished an entire crate of soju, 20 bottles, so shameful yet so proud, though none of us can remember what happened in our could’ve-should’ve-died-of-alcohol-poisoning-dumb-ass-drunk-ass state afterwards.

I do remember what happened later on this occasion.
