Nothing like the real thing (see generally 7.038 Hot Pastrami Sandwich), more like a briny ham, which would’ve been okay in its own right, if not surrounded by so much black pepper that it was uncomfortably gritty, as well as overly spicy.  After eating one slice as is, I went back to the kitchen and cut off all the edges for the rest.
