Da Tang Jardin is a Chinese restaurant, Taiwanese in style.

A new Chinese place had opened near HRS’s house, and she wanted to try it out, but not by herself, so she asked K staff living in BGC to accompany her.

Billing itself as an “Asian Tapas Bar,” simply a small-plate concept.

The food was pretty good.  Some hits, some near misses. The featured shrimp ball dish wasn’t necessarily the best as food per se — nicely crisp on the outside, succulent minced shrimp within, though the truffle sauce topping and underlying cucumber and toast and oyster sauce were entirely irrelevant — but the photo came out most distinctive.  Overall, worth a return visit for further exploration.

Deep-Fried Shrimp & Purple Yam (2.5)
Dry-Fried String Beans with Minced Pork (3.25)
Dongpo Pork (3.0) : almost too fall-apart-tender (see for example 6.246 Tungpo-Style Braised Pork Belly).
Spicy Salt-Fried Chicken in Taiwanese Style (3.0) : tasty but a tad dry.
Braised Beef Noodles (1.5) : not even close to the real thing (see for example 5.112 Half Calf Tendon & Half Beef Noodles …).
