Grilled Beef Steak with Herb Cream Sauce (1.5): reminder to self: never ever order the steak as part of an in-flight meal service, even if in business class.

Until now, I had never fully appreciated the sophistication of the fig.  Sweet, but just delicately so, with jammy berry flavors on one end and darker herbaceous notes on the other.  The texture is firm on the outside, gooey on the inside, crunchy seeds to keep it interesting.  And this from someone who generally doesn’t like fruit.

Here, elegant synergy with the tangy feta and savory parma.

I should try this at home – do they sell figs in Manila?

BREAKFAST

On the flight from Incheon to Nadi.

Ramyeon (3.0) – available as an optional snack anytime, including as a substitute for breakfast; as such, the best in-flight breakfast ever, the spicy broth just the thing to wash out the cottonmouth from a night of boozing in an arid environment; edges out the prior best: the more wholesome gomtang (see 7.041 Gomtang).

As always, I am grateful for and respectful of the opportunity to travel internationally, whether for fun or for work, especially via business class (see BEST IN FLIGHT), including airport lounge access (see in BEST IN LOUNGE).
