In Suva. Attending a series of planning sessions – Monday to Thursday – in preparation for the Fifth Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarian Forum on Global Health, which will be held in Fiji in August 2019. This is the second such mission in advance of the Fifth Meeting (see previously 9.286 Kokonda with Grilled Prawns).
While I am grateful as ever for the privilege of traveling to far and exotic lands through the course of my work, I’d like to point out that the working environments and living conditions are rarely very glamorous.
I still make an effort to maximize my dining opportunities when I’m on the road, but now I’ve been around enough to anticipate certain destinations where the local options may not be worth the effort – better to pack my own, even if that means instant Korean products.
Also why I much prefer hotel rooms with kitchenettes.
