Grilled Garlic Butter Asparagus

My fourth attempt on the new grill (see most recently 10.106 Gold Mountain Pork Belly…), the first with items that required high heat. I didn’t use enough coal. Neither the scallops nor the steaks achieved carmelization, resulting in limpy texture. The asparagus, which benefitted from flare ups when basted with the garlic butter, turned out nicely charred. While the meal overall could be characterized as a failure, I was proud to see my boys fighting over asparagus (and foregoing meat and potatoes).
