This time, the bank is offering a promotion with Jollibee (see previously 10.184 Garden Fresh Pizza). I’ve accumulated 23 e-coupons, which are redeemable for either fried chicken (“Chickenjoy”) or hotdogs (“Jolly Hotdog”).
I opted for the chicken.

Perhaps the worst fried chicken that I’ve ever had. Greasy with a strong hint of over-used oil. Another bad experience consistent with every past experience at Jollibee.
I will take this opportunity to place a self-ban on any meat products at Jollibee. I am tempted to ban the chain altogether, but I anticipate that I will be faced with avoidable need to eat Jollibee somewhere down the road, given its ubiquity in the Philippines. The french fries and ube (purple yam) pies can be pretty good, if not cooked in rancid oil. Anyway, the important thing is that this move reduces my overall consumption of meat.
Milestones in Meat Moderation – for personal health, environmental sustainability, and the welfare of beasts, I am taking steps towards reducing my consumption of animals:
- No Australian beef (10.348 Steak)
- No air-breathing fauna at Japanese restaurants (11.001 Tofu Salad)
- No meat products at Jollibee (11.037 1-Piece Chickenjoy Meal)
