Creamed corn is an American dish. Crushed kernels of sweetcorn, seasoned with sugar and salt, cooked in its own pulpy juices, creating an inherently creamy texture, no actual cream (usually) involved. A popular side dish in Southern cuisine, also at steakhouses.
Sent our helper to the store with list of items to buy, including “canned corn,” and she came back with both whole kernel and cream style.
My first experience working with creamed corn, I served it as a kind of soup along with clam pasta. The boys liked it.
