Pizza Diablo

3.5

at Oksu-Dong Hwadeok Pizza

-Oksu, Seongdong, Seoul, Republic of Korea-

with Dad

Oksu-Dong Hwadeok Pizza is an Italian restaurant.  Specializes in Neopolitan-style pizza, cooked in a wood-fired oven (hwadeok).  They claim that the crust is sourdough.

The pizza was excellent.  The crust was chewy and extremely flavorful, further enhanced by the charred bits.  The pepperoni were perfectly salty and spicy, further enhanced by the chili flakes.  The whole black olives rolled off when the slice was picked up, but whatever.  Just the right amount of fresh mozzarella.  Rich, properly thick tomato sauce.  A very righteous pie indeed.

Caesar Salad (3.5): never saw pepperoni on a caesar salad, but it worked; the salad itself was very lightly, and very nicely, dressed.
Spaghetti Mentaiko (1.5): had a strange artificial aftertaste, like margarine.

Long story way short, my father had another episode this afternoon.  My mother was out of town, on her way back to Seoul, so I was looking after him until she returned, which is why the two of us had dinner in Oksu.
