The deliciousness of a perfectly ripe avocado, enhanced with a generous sprinkle of coarse sea salt – any kind of salt is fine, but the coarse sea salt pops with every bite – cannot be overstated.
I just realized that avocado, which I had never until this moment consciously thought of as a fruit, is my favorite fruit. Now that I’m thinking about it, tomato is my second favorite fruit. So long as I’m at it, I also like cucumbers, peas, beans, zucchini, corn, which are also technically fruits, even though informally regarded as vegetables and usually prepared as vegetables. So when I say that I detest fruit, I really mean that I detest sweet fruit, like apples, pineapples, berries, melons. But that’s not entirely true, as I do enjoy an occasional peach, watermelon, mango (but only in the Philippines).
