Feels like years since IZ’s last birthday (see 11.092 Super Moist Red Velvet Cake with Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting and Fresh Strawberries), but here we are again. Due to the pandemic, we decided against a party but invited IZ’s new best friend over for a playdate, which concluded with dinner. IZ requested the pasta.
By odd coincidence, their names are both non-traditional yet similar: Ian (이안) / Ideun (이든). Stranger still, Ian’s older brother and Ideun’s younger sister also have non-traditional names that even more similar: Damin (다민) / Idam (이담).

For bolognese sauce, I recommend adding a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon…really adds a certain je ne sais quoi.
Happy birthday Ian! 🥳
I totally agree! Nutmeg, which I add to many meat dishes, incl bolognese, Swedish meatballs, even Japanese hayashi rice, provides a kind of round warmth to the profile. I’ll try cinnamon next time.
