Siheung Haneul Service Area – aka Bridge Square – is a rest stop located along Highway 100 in the city of Siheung.  Perhaps unique to Korea, it stands over the road – “haneul = sky” – while vehicles pass underneath.

On my way home from the book fair in Incheon, I was intrigued and stopped by for a look.

It’s surprisingly large, much bigger than it appears from the highway, comprising 3 levels of restaurants and shops, more of a small department store than a rest stop.

I was sufficiently impressed to stay for dinner.

Chanjang is a Korean restaurant.  Specializes in traditional Korean cuisine.

The food was pretty good.

I was very pleased to discover this vendor selling handmade ceramics.  Expect to see new dishes in upcoming posts.
