For Parents’ Day (today), we took my parents out to dinner.

(We had already eaten lunch with W’s parents on Children’s Day (Wednesday)).

Both appetizer and main, I chose lighter dishes for myself.

The Grilled Spear Squid was amazing.  The perfectly cooked squid was tender, juicy, tasty.  The minari and chamnamul were sautéed in a perfectly seasoned sauce, which was described in the menu as “anchovy and salsa sauce,” but it was much more delicate than those elements would suggest – an amazing, seamless pairing of local ingredients with Italian traditions.  I could’ve made a meal of this dish alone, with a few additional servings, plus the free bread.

Fish Cacciucco (1.5): the seafood elements were fine, but the sauce was absurdly salty – surely a mistake, as if the chef had accidentally dropped an additional tablespoon of salt without realizing it – though I didn’t notice until I’d finished all the seafoods and dipped the bread in the remaining sauce, so it seemed too late to complain by then.
