W and her friend went on a trek over Namhansan, a small the mountain adjacent to our apartment complex. For W – and I swear that I’m not making this up – it was her first exercise experience in 10 years (see most recently 2.143 Smoked Duck with Buchu and Perilla Leaves in Onion-Wasabi Dressing). Along the way, they encountered a restaurant serving traditional Korean foods, foods that are often found somewhere along mountain trails (see for example 9.144 Jeongsik).
Impressed – she was starving from the walk – W bought some handmade dubu, which came with sautéed kimchi, and brought it home for dinner.
BY ME = sliced the dubu cakes + plated the pieces and kimchi on a dish + sprinkled some sesame seeds for garnish (black on the dubu, white on the kimchi) + nuked everything for 1 minute.
The dubu was good. Soft, delicate, nutty. Reminded me of the handmade dubu that she had bought in Manila (see 9.288 Handmade Dubu with Soy Dressing).
The kimchi was so-so.
