The First Full Family Full Camping Trip Ever (Day 2)
-
- Day 1 (12.325 (Garlic) Abalones)
- Day 2 (12.326 Furnace-Roasted Sweet Potatoes)
- Day 3 (12.327 Pyeonyuk Muchim)
Surprisingly, our family of four has never before camped out together in a tent.
BREAKFAST
Sweet potatoes, wrapped in aluminum foil, placed on top of the kerosene furnace, turned every 15 minutes, cooked for a total of 1 hour, peeled, served with milk, enjoyed.
A bit of charring on the outside is nice, which caramelizes the flesh on the inside and adds a whiff of smokiness.
LUNCH
The grilled pork skewer wraps were meant for dinner tonight, but I decided to make them for lunch, while the weather was warm enough to cook and eat outside.
The wraps comprised tortilla + lemon pork + mozzarella balls + pickled jalapeños + cilantro + hot sauce. Nice.
AFTERNOON TEA
As I descend deeper into alcoholism, I’m drinking more vodka. Previously, from beer to wine to whisky, each stage was about developing an appreciation of texture and taste and aroma. But vodka, especially cheap vodka, can simply be about the alcohol, no need to bother with complications.
Just to show how far I’ve fallen off the path, I am now an unabashed fan of Absolut’s flavored vodkas. They remind me of Jolly Rancher candies. My favorite so far is peach (GK, why is it called “Apeach” – does that mean something in Swedish?); the watermelon wasn’t so great.
DINNER
Another good thing about camping in Okcheon, if cooking is a hassle, restaurants abound.
Yangpyeong Jangeo is a Korean restaurant. Specializes in eel.
The food was very good.
In any case, I was grateful to avoid cooking in the cold weather – man, I’m getting old.

Apeach has no meaning in Swedish (it’s called “persika” in Swedish). I’m guessing it could be some kind of play of word (Absolut + Peach = Apeach?).
Well, then the other ones would be Agrapefruit etc.
