Today was local election day (national holiday).

LUNCH

Invited HRS over for lunch, and she brought along her daughter + son-in-law (he’s Korean-American, so she thought we’d hit it off).

As usual, when hosting guests, I forgot to take photos in the mad scramble to get everything to the table; fortunately, HRS’s daughter took this shot.

Not planned as such, it turned out to be a Pan-European spread: Gambas al Ajillo (Spanish) + Salade Niçoise (French) + Penne with Shiitake in Truffle Cream Sauce (Italian).  In my haste, I forgot to toast the bread, salt the eggs, and top the pasta with arugula, which only occurred to me as I was looking at the photo.  Nobody seemed to notice anything amiss.

AFTERNOON SNACK

After lunch, IZ and I took Louis Le Pieux for his monthly spa treatment.

While waiting, we hung out at my favorite pub.

The Rabokki was quite good.  First time that I’ve had it with cheese (American processed cheese), which just melted into the mix and mellowed out the spice a bit, not as weird as I would’ve thought.
