Woori Dongnae Ddeokbokki Original is a meal kit from Pulmuone.  The concept is to evoke nostalgia for ddeokbokki in its street form – the green plastic plates shown on the packaging are authentic street (see for example 13.003 Ddeokbokki) – especially from food stalls as once found in every neighborhood (see for example 3.164 The Trinity) – the name of the product means “our (woori) neighborhood (dongnae).”

Okay.  As per traditional street ddeokbokki, the rice cakes are actually made of flour, as opposed to rice, which is more costly as an ingredient.  The sauce is sweet, very mild, as preferred by kids in the ‘hood.  I added shiitake mushrooms + scallions + sesame seeds, just to make it a bit more like real food, though admittedly ruining the concept in doing so.
