Numero Dos is an Italian restaurant.  Specializes in Neopolitan-style pizzas and pastas.  Part of the Numero family, which includes Numero Tres (see generally 11.318 Spaghetti Carbonara) and Numero Cinqo (see generally 13.084 Fish Sandwich), all located in the neighborhood.

Located in a back alley a few blocks from the office, snuggled among residential homes.

Mascarpone is an Italian cheese.   Made with the cream of cow’s milk.  Soft, mild in flavor.

The architectural design trend in the Seongsu dining scene, rather than razing an old house and erecting a shiny new building (à la Gangnam style), is to embrace the beauty and quirkiness of the existing structure and renovate around it.
Retro chic – very old world European vibe.

The mascarpone pizza was okay.  The crust, cooked to blistered/charred perfection in a wood-fired oven, was chewy and delicious.  The sauce was basil pesto, of which I’ve never been a big fan.  The cheese kinda took me aback, as I was expecting the pull of mozzarella but it was more puddle, as if the proteins had crumbled at the molecular level.  Anyway.

The food generally was great.  I’ll be back to try other dishes.
