In advance of the lunar new year holiday next week, our director of operations gifted me a box of artisanal rice cakes.

Each cake was exquisitely crafted, beautifully colored.  I’d never imagined that rice cakes could be made like that.

And yet, they didn’t seem particularly appealing as food.  They looked more like soap or candles.

Tasted fine, but not enough to overcome the visual creepiness.
