Shrimp Asparagus (Dumplings)

Songhwa Sansi Dosak Myeon (송화산시도삭면) is a Chinese restaurant. Specializes in their eponymous knife-cut noodles (dosak myeon), as well as dimsum.

MtG and I roamed around until we came across Songhwa Sansi Dosak Myeon, which neither of us had heard of, but it looked promising.

Good choice. The dumplings were well-constructed, nicely seasoned, solid all around. The “signature” Shrimp Asparagus was sort of a hybrid shaomai/hargao/wonton – not the best of the spread, but the most interesting visually. Wouldn’t have minded staying longer, exploring more of the menu, but we moved on after a few rounds.
Whereas Korea’s only official Chinatown doesn’t serve actual Chinese food (see generally 12.104 Gonghwachun Jjajang Myeon), 2 neighborhoods that come a shade closer are Yeonnam-dong (across from Hongik University) (see most recently 13.239 Hongsimchae Deopbap) and Jayang-dong (across from Konkuk University). Inexplicable that I’d never been to Jayang-dong until tonight, even though I’ve known about it for decades, and now it’s next door to the office.
