We went to watch DJ play cello in the KIMEA Music Festival, which was held at Chadwick International this year.
Afterwards, we went out to dinner, including DJ’s girlfriend, whom we all met for the first time tonight. DJ has a girlfriend, my god. Given a choice, DJ of course wanted to eat Japanese, so we went to a random place. The food was crappy. Even worse, turns out that the girlfriend doesn’t like Japanese food, and she doesn’t eat much even when served something she likes – as DJ would later inform us – so she barely touched the food. I would later admonish DJ that his primary objective in such a dining situation, as the go-between with parents on one side and girlfriend on the other, is to attempt finding common ground so that everyone is satisfied, or at least comfortable, with the options on the table, not just to eat what he wants. Anyway, dinner with the son’s girlfriend, that’s one major milestone out of the way.
