While picking up Louis Le Pieux’s hypoallergenic kibble at the vet, I ran across a truck selling rotisserie chicken and pork.  Purchased one of each.

Objectively, I could see why some/many/most people would find this kinda grungy and thus unappealing, but I am not one of them.
Looks good – under this warm lighting.
Less so – in the harsh light of reality.

When this kind of thing was first featured on GMTD, nearly 13 years ago in Cycle 3, the prices were 10,000 won for 3 chickens, 4,000 won for 1 chicken (see 3.294 Tongdak).   4 years ago in Cycle 11, they were 13,000 won for 3 chickens, 5,000 won for 1 chicken (see 11.267 Rotisserie Chicken).  Now, 15,000 won for 2 chickens, 8,000 won for 1 chicken.

Packaged in foil-lined bags, which keep the food warm; presumably/hopefully, the bags are new, perhaps factory overruns.

Alas, the food was crap.  The chicken had a slightly odd aftertaste.  The pork, labelled somewhat oxymoronically as “mok samgyeopsal (neck belly), was dry.  Took a few nibbles and set the rest aside to be given to Louis as snacks.

I think back wistfully to the days of living on my own in Manila, where my apartment was across the street from a branch of Baliwag.  They had the most amazing chicken (see for example 6.227 Manok) and pork belly (see for example 6.210 Liempo).

Even with the Pale, the experience didn’t come remotely close.
