Black Pepper King Crab

3.0

at Jumbo Seafood

-Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, Republic of Korea-

with the Family

In advance of Ian’s 13th birthday tomorrow, we had dinner at Jumbo – now our go-to venue for family celebrations (15.357 Lobster Braised with Superior Broth).

149,000 won per kg isn’t too bad, even though it’s a smaller crab, compared to the 115,000 won per kg that I recently paid for a 3.5 kg king crab at the market (see for comparison 16.084 King Crab for Winners); though the supposed full price of 298,000 won is ludicrous – is it fooling anyone into thinking they’r eactually getting half off?!

Very pleasantly surprised to find king crab on offer this time, as a special.  Couldn’t resist, especially when the savvy manager claimed that they had only 1 left.

Because it was so small, I had just a single leg and let the family enjoy the rest.  It was fine, just like the black pepper king crab that we’d enjoyed at Jumbo in Singapore (see 10.155 Chilli King Crab).

Fried Crispy Noodles with Seafood (2.0): okay sauce, but not enough seafood, and the noodles broke apart.

I was more interested in the other dishes on the menu.  The noodles were disappointing.  Other dishes, which will be featured in a future post, were promising.  Stay tuned.

In lieu of a birthday cake, we went to Billy Angel café and ordered individual slices of different cakes – the milk cake was phenomenal.

Happy Birthday, IZ!  You are now officially a “teen”ager.
