Jjondeuk Gabeuri

at Goji

with the Family

Goji is a Korean restaurant.   Specializes in Korean BBQ, pork cuts – according to the menu, from premium pigs raised antibiotic-free in the Baekdugan mountain range at an altitude of 500 m above sea level; the name, a portmanteau of “gogi (meat) + jijon (best),” is also a pun on “high altitude.”  Despite the slick set-up, it appears to be an independent restaurant.

Located 147 m from Oksu Station, nestled between Pocha For Four (see generally 17.144 Jogae Tang) and Raemian Sikdang (17.149 Baekban: Jeyuk Bokkeum + Galchi Jorim).

Gabeuri is a cut of pork.  Lies between the shoulder and loin.  One pig yields around 200-400 grams.

Gabeuri was a late addition, apparently.

The food was good.  Starting with excellent banchan, we ordered bowls of rice from the get-go.  The gabeuri, fatty like pork belly with the texture of hangjeongsal, very tasty.  Great meal all around.

Cast iron grills over live coals – nice.
“Jjondeuk = chewy.”
