Lunch Buffet: Prime Rib

2.0

at The Restaurant – Seoul Club

-Jangchung, Jung, Seoul, Republic of Korea-

with the Family, Mom and Dad

Claiming to have some vouchers for the buffet at the Seoul Club, Mom invited us to lunch.

Like a small boutique hotel.

Hate to be so cynical, but I suspect that the “vouchers” were a ruse just to get us in the building so that she could once again give us an opportunity – our last visit was nearly 4 years ago (see most recently 13.193 Cobb Salad) – to bask in the glory of her membership and to persuade us to join.  At one point, she suggested that our “quality of life” would dramatically improve were we to join.  The membership costs 75,000,000 for a family, plus monthly fees of 500,000 (6,000,000 annually), and all food and beverages are extra (e.g., 76,000 per person for the lunch buffet, excluding drinks) – holy fuck, what we could do with that money on the outside.

Breakfast sausages!

Generally, the food was okay.  High quality ingredients, competently prepared.  Alas, the roast beef looked great but was surprisingly dry and flavorless.  Perversely, my favorite item was the breakfast sausages, not the kind of thing that should be the highlight of a buffet at a premium private club.  Not worth 76,000.
