Zaru Soba (WHAT)
-Oksu (Joongang Heights Apts), Seongdong, Seoul, Korea-

Zaru soba is a Japanese dish. Chilled buckwheat noodles (soba) dipped in a cold sweet soy-based sauce along with additional toppings and condiments, including shredded laver, prepared wasabi, grated daikon radish, and minced scallions. The term “zaru” refers to a bamboo basket used like a colander to drain liquid from food; these days, the noodles are often served on a plastic representation of a zaru. In Korea, the dish is so commonplace that it can be found in mainstream Korean restaurants, and ingredients can be purchased at the supermarket for home preparation.
Here, despite my best efforts, the noodles themselves were mushy and flavorless.
