Manhattan-style clam chowder is an American dish. Clam soup, with potatoes and tomatoes, often corn, carrots, celery, thickened by the starch of the potatoes, sometimes with roux. A variation of the more common New England-style clam chowder, which involves milk, no tomatoes. No real relation to Manhattan.
