Tofu Spring Rolls
at my parents’ home
-Geumgok, Bundang, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, Korea-
with the Family, Mom and Dad, maternal relatives
To celebrate Lunar New Year’s Day, Mom got fancy. In addition to the typical Korean items that we usually have during family get-togethers on special occasions, she coordinated a multi-course spread that included hors-d’ouevres and sushi and crab. I contributed a pumpkin pie for dessert, which didn’t go very well, possibly due to the overabundance of other food or so I’d like to think.
While my mother is an excellent cook, I was impressed by the entirely new dishes that she introduced, which I’ve never seen before.
The Japanese dishes were done by Aunt H, who is visiting from the States, where she has run several Japanese restaurants.
