Broccoli Stir-Fry with Prawns

at Small Plates

with CAL, MK, and other meeting participants

Mission to Fiji : Day 4 (see previously 6.316 Kokoda).

In Nadi.  Here to attend a workshop on tobacco control, yesterday to tomorrow.  Flying back Friday.

My third visit to Fiji (see most recently 6.108 Kovu Ura).

On the left, that’s CAL, whom I haven’t seen since she left the Regional Office for HQ (see most recently 5.351 Chili Prawns).
Small Plates is a Chinese restaurant — despite what the name and decor might suggest.

The plan for dinner had been to eat at Tu’s Place (see generally 6.107 Rourou Taster), but it was packed on arrival, no chance for a table anytime soon, so we opted to venture elsewhere, finding Small Plates a bit down the road.

Though not in the mood for Chinese, the food was pretty good all around, nothing fancy, just well-made neighborhood fare.

The shrimp and broccoli was my choice.

As food portions in the Pacific tend to be enormous, the concept here is apparently to keep dishes down to reasonable sizes (FJD 10 = about USD 4.60).

On the road for two weeks, two missions, back to back, Switzerland (done), then Fiji (in process).  Both trips involve long haul flights, inherently difficult due to travel time and time difference, but the business class compensates somewhat.  Arranged the itinerary — MNL > ICN > GVA > ICN > NAD > ICN > MNL — to allow for three consecutive weekends at home, though only for a day and a half per stop.  I’ll take my blessings however they may come.
