Emergency Sick Leave, Day 3 (see previously 7.014 Babyback Galbi Jjim).

In Seoul.  Arrived last Wednesday on a mission.  Injured my back over the weekend (see generally 7.011 Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza).  Staying in town for treatment.  Return to Manila unknown.

As part of his winter holiday homework, DJ was assigned to cook something.   We made tuna sandwiches.  Hoping that he would absorb the lesson and apply it for real on his own, I taught him a recipe that wouldn’t require any knives or flames (the boiled egg was already available).  We ate the entire first batch in one sitting.  Later, DJ whipped up a second batch for his mom when she got home from work.  Good stuff.

Had it not been for the back, I would’ve missed this (see also 5.102 Potato & Corn Croquettes).  Makes me wonder what I’m missing when I’m not around.

I was probably around the same age when I learned to make sandwiches.  Both my parents were working, so I had to fend for myself until dinner time.  Come to think of it, both my parents are still working, and my wife works, and I work, and yet I continue to fend for myself, as well as my kids, and my wife, and sometimes my parents.  Sandwiches usually don’t cut it.
