Dives 47-48.
After staying overnight at Casa Escondida (see previously 8.267 Native Pechay & Cauliflower Stir-Fry), DJ and I went diving in the morning.
After the first dive, the group dropped by a small village to see buy fish for the resort’s dinner buffet.
I couldn’t resist buying a fresh maya maya (red snapper) to take home.
At 300 pesos per kilogram, I paid 1,000 pesos for about 3.4 kg – less than half the price that I would pay in the city (see for example 8.079 Maya Maya Jiri Tang), and more then twice as fresh.
The kitchen at the resort was kind enough to wrap the fish and put it on ice.
When we got home, I had the fun of the filleting the fish.
I have never seen eyes so crystal clear, gills so bright red.
Anticipating that the fish wouldn’t be ready in time for an early dinner, we stopped at Yuk Dae Jang on the way home and got takeout.
