Winter Family Vacation to Malaysia, Day 3 (see previously 8.255 Seared Tuna Canapes).

In Kuala Lumpur.  Here for Sunway Lagoon – a theme park and resort.  Monday thru Thursday.  Back to Manila on Friday.

Bandar Sunway is a vast commercial complex that includes Sunway Lagoon, Sunway Pyramid Mall, Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway Condominiums and other residential properties, Sunway University, Sunway Le Cordon Bleu (!), plus numerous hotels, including the flagship Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, and many restaurants in between.  Located in Bandwar Sunway (Sunway City), a township in the greater metropolitan area of Kuala Lumpur, about 20 km from downtown.

The hotel, as seen from the bridge.

Sunway Lagoon: more than enough rides, games, attractions, animals, and water activities to keep us thoroughly entertained for a second straight day.  In fact, the lack of photos below is a testament to how preoccupied we were, too busy to document the experience.  A touch of cross-promotion with Nickolodeon and Dora the Explorer, but otherwise refreshingly brand-free.

That long bridge in the middle of the map – supposedly the longest bridge of its kind in the world – is where they’re standing in the photo below.
Love this photo on 3 points: (1) depth of perception; (2) IZ’s bad-ass pose; (3) banana hammock!

What’s great about Sunway is that the mall offers further opportunities for fun after a day at the theme park.  We played video games, rode bumper cars, watched Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Among so many dining options, we settled on the most local, the most main stream, the most inviting.

As I learn to love the dynamic interplay of textures and flavors in nasi lemak, I can appreciate the crispy/savory role of dried anchovies and the crunchy/nutty role of peanuts, even though I don’t otherwise like them very much.
