Manila is host to a thriving Korean network of informal home-based catering businesses – the Ajumma Network. I suspect that they’re stay-at-home spouses trying to be useful while their other halves are out at work. The proprietors use Kakaotalk (chat service) to announce what’s available – no set menus, just seemingly whatever they feel like making that day, mostly precooked/reheat-to-eat dishes – while customers respond to place orders. The items are packaged and delivered.
W buys them for her own lunch and for dinner on days when she’s responsible. In fact, looking back at posts attributed to “By W,” I’ve identified the following that were likely sourced from the Network:
- 7.225 Bulgogi Ddeokbokki (2.5)
- 7.286 Dweji Bulgogi (2.5)
- 7.303 Galbi Jjim (3.0)
- 8.039 Galchi Jorim (2.5)
This bibimbap was one of the better ones.
