On 7 March 2020, I posted on purchasing a second batch of groceries to keep us eating at home for the near future; at the time, 101,927 global cases (6,767 in Korea, 5 in the Philippines, including the 1st confirmed local transmission, 4,636 in Italy); 3,073 global deaths (44 in Korea, 1 in the Philippines, 197 in Italy) (see 11.062 Miyeok Guk Ramyeon).
As of today, 109,577 global cases (7,382 in Korea, 10 in the Philippines, 7,375 in Italy); 3,123 global deaths (51 in Korea, 1 in the Philippines, 366 in Italy). While the situation would appear to be improving in parts of Asia, it’s rapidly getting worse elsewhere, especially Europe, starting with Italy.
In line with Philippine government policy, International School Manila suspended classes starting tomorrow through the rest of the week. Our boys, who had returned to school last Friday following a 2-week quarantine, are now home again.
Under the circumstances, I was proud to serve a meal that was healthful, well-balanced, tasty, and culinarily coherent – partly Korean, partly Chinese.
