GMTD is pleased to introduce the newest member of our family: Louis Le Pieux (Louis I of France is referred to in English as “Louis the Pious”). He’s a French Bulldog, just turned 9 weeks yesterday. (Thanks to Tia Kat for facilitating the adoption!)
I’ve always wanted a dog, but the situation was never quite right. Now 99% certain that the books are closed on a third human child, living in a house, nearing retirement, I am at long last ready.
One concern had been the difficulty of looking after a puppy during the initial months while I was at work – W has made it clear that she will have nothing to do with it, and I have no illusions that the boys will maintain their engagement once the elation deflates in a couple weeks – but COVID-19 will likely have me working from home for awhile, at least part time.
I boiled a chicken breast and tore it into tiny bits as treats to make the little looloopoopoo feel at home and to facilitate/stimulate training. My life’s driving passion continues to be cooking for my babies.
With the remainder of the chicken, I made nuggets, which I had experimented with last week (see 11.061 Deep-Fried Broccoli Stems), this time marinating the pieces for an hour in Yeondu, followed by a light dredge in flour then a double deep-fry. Tremendous success.
To get W to acquiesce, I signed a lifetime contract to cook all meals for the rest of our lives. I could’ve negotiated for less, but I am happy to take on kitchen duties, officially now and forever. Win-win for everyone.
