Cannelloni is an Italian pasta. Cylindrical, about 3 cm in diameter, 10 cm long. Typically stuffed with cheese and/or meat, then baked.
At Numero Dos, the canelloni (sic) was quite nice. Filled with a mince of shrimp + spinach, topped with toasted mozzarella cheese + parmesan, served on a bed of light tomato sauce – I made a similar dish back in Cycle 2 (see 2.213 Mushroom Scampi Cannelloni with Mozzarella in Tomato-Parmesan Sauce). Great as an appetizer.
On the second date with that girl (see 7.175 Chicken Curry), we went to an Italian place and shared cannelloni. Although I can’t recall anything else we ever ate together, I remember the cannelloni because I’d wanted to seem sophisticated (I was in 12th grade), by ordering something other than spaghetti, so I selected cannelloni from the menu with feigned assertiveness but without actual knowledge of what it was; when it arrived, I thought to myself, “Oh, so it’s like lasagna in a tube.” I tell the story here because one of my staff who joined us for lunch kinda looks like the ex-girlfriend.
