Having first experienced the “salt & pepper” stir-fry technique in the Philippines (see generally 6.209 Mantis Shrimp with Salt & Pepper),  I was suddenly inspired to try making it – almost exactly 8 years later.  Didn’t consult a recipe, just winged it from memory.

Eh.

Don’t recall when/why/where I purchased these pre-coooked, deep-fried, frozen, Korean-style squid sticks (ojingeo twigim) – convenient and reasonably tasty, though they stunk up the oil after just one use, what a waste.

Looking back at the only other post featuring the dish (see 6.268 Squid with Salt & Pepper), I was struck with nostalgia, missing the variety of dishes to be found in Chinese restaurants across Manila, which I did appreciate at the time but not as much as I should’ve, especially if I’d known that I would end up back in Korea so soon.
