Earlier in the afternoon, the owner of the hotel (who’s our neighbor in Cheongdam-dong) invited us to a New Year’s Eve fireworks viewing event at Festiva.  Opening at 22:30 (Dec 31) and closing at 00:30 (Jan 1), the event offered guests a table, along with 2 drinks + 1 anju platter, 50,000 won for 2 persons.

From the 20th floor, the 270 degree view (see generally 12.302 Snapper al Cartoccio) provided prime positioning to see fireworks across the city.

It wasn’t about the food, of course, but the platter was still pretty good.  Especially the truffle fries, which the boys devoured within seconds.  We ordered 2 additional servings.

Antico Monastero Brut Cuvée Vino Spumante

Alas, I was rather underwhelmed by the firework shows, all of which were relatively rinky dink in scale.  The closest came from Bongeunsa Temple, directly below the hotel, but only reached about the 10th floor.

Upon exiting, I was very happy to find that the owner had given us a free pass for everything.

My babies, generously allowing themselves to be caught on camera.

Happy New Year!
