Bora Chung, one of our favorite collaborators and best-selling authors, gave a lecture at SIS today.
AUTHOR VISIT

At her request, I joined the event to sell books for signing. Anything to accommodate Bora. Any excuse to be on campus.

Afterwards, we had lunch together at a restaurant in front of school, but I forgot to take photos.
DINNER
Historically, Sapporo Ichiban Shoyu Ramen has been my all-time favorite instant ramen (see generally 10.137 Sapporo Ichiban Shoyu Ramen – Deluxe), but I may have discovered a contender: Sapporo Miso Ramen. The broth is slightly richer, though not discernibly different i.e. shoyu vs miso. The noodles are slightly thicker, requiring more cook time, allowing for the addition of more supplementals, such as poached egg, while maintaining al dente texture. Even better, the product is available on the local market (Hyundai Department Store), at least for now.

Also of note, I made my first batch of (American-)Chinese-style pickled cabbage, inspired by the version at the otherwise forgettable restaurant in Pyeongtaek a couple weeks back (see generally 17.054 Beef & Broccoli). It turned out very nicely. After another go, I’ll post the recipe.
