Dropped by to check on the apartment, which is coming along nicely.
Afterwards, we had dinner at The Corner Kitchen, one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants. Founded in 2012, remarkable that it’s still in business.
We were quite disappointed, however, to find that the prices have gone way up. Back in 2012, the margherita had been 13,000 (see generally 3.159 Pizza Margherita), now nearly double at 24,000. Granted, restaurant prices have risen everywhere, certainly over the past 14 years, but 24,000 for a basic pizza is expensive, even by 2026 standards – the margherita at MtG’s restaurant is currently 18,000, which I believe is still a lot to pay for a handful of flour + a tablespoon of tomato sauce + a few bits of cheese + a few leaves of basil; the same pie can be had in Naples for half that price (around 5 euros = less than 9,000). Assuming that rent in Oksu can’t possibly be that high, the owner must be making a fortune.

The pizza was partly hit, mostly miss. The crust was excellent, as ever. But the ham was too thick, making it difficult to chew and overwhelming the thin crust. The so-called “sous vide” egg was severally undercooked, leaving an icky mess in the middle. In 2016, a similar pie called Cotto Prosciutto Insalata had been 20,000 (see generally 7.010 Cotto Prosciutto Insalata Pizza), now 27,000 (albeit with the addition of an egg).

A bit up the street, Oksu-Dong Hwadeok Pizza (see generally 11.320 Pizza Diablo) offers the margherita for 20,000.
