At long last, as teased last month (see 17.084 Special Sushi Set), the day is finally upon us: the dual book launch/talk for 2 books by author Cho Yeeun: Shift and Teddy Bears Never Die.

The event was a 5-way partnership: dbBOOKS X YP Books X Hachette Book Group X Honford Star X Seoul Silent Book Club.

Following the success of their first BookMaek (BookBeer) Salon last fall, YP Books is doing it again this spring. On weekends, at the ground floor plaza of their flagship building in Jongro, they sell draft beer and set up chairs/tables for customers to drink and read – not entirely unlike Seoul Outdoor Library (see for comparison 17.116 Emmental Mushroom Pizza), though certainly more adult in nature and commercial in objective.
Our event was held amidst this on-going event.

Afterwards, dinner was hosted at Woomi Hwegwan, which we’d scouted following a planning meeting last month (see generally 17.105 Gamja Chae Jeon). The food was excellent.

With great fondness, I recall Ms Cho’s visit to our warehouse last year to be interviewed by The Korea Joongang Daily (see generally 15.291 Special Sushi Set).

The event was a huge success – though, without going into details, I doubt that we’ll be partnering with YP Books on another event anytime soon.
